Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They let the website remember things like your login session or language preference between page loads.

2. Cookies altwriter uses

We use only strictly necessary cookies — those required for the Service to function. We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, social-media, or behavioural-profiling cookies.

3. Why no consent banner

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the EU ePrivacy Directive, websites must obtain prior consent before storing non-essential cookies. Because altwriter uses only strictly necessary cookies (each required to deliver core functionality that you actively requested — signing in, viewing the page in your chosen language), no consent banner is required for the cookies listed above.

If we add analytics or any non-essential cookies in the future, we will (a) update this page and (b) display a consent banner before setting them.

4. How to control cookies

You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers also offer a "private" or "incognito" mode that discards cookies when the window closes.

Blocking the Clerk authentication cookies will prevent you from staying signed in to altwriter. The Service will still function for unauthenticated browsing of marketing pages.

5. Third-party cookies via embedded services

When you proceed to Stripe Checkout to purchase credits, you leave altwriter and are subject to Stripe's own cookie policy. altwriter does not control cookies set on the Stripe Checkout domain.

6. Updates to this policy

If we change the cookies we use, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. For material changes affecting cookie types or consent, we will notify users via the Service.
